Manado-Bitung Toll Road Progress Reaches 53.47%

The 39-kilometer Manado-Bitung Toll Road currently has construction progress reaching 53.47% (Status 25 January 2019). The first toll road in North Sulawesi is targeted to be operational in May 2019 for Part I and December 2019 for Part II.

The Manado-Bitung Toll Road has two sections, namely the Manado-Sukur-Air Section 14 km Part I which is currently in the construction progress stage 79.77% and 25 Km in Part II Air Madidi-Bitung with 38 construction progress, 74%. This toll road has five Interchange (SS), namely, SS Sukur, SS Air Madidi, SS Kauditan, SS Danowudu and SS Bitung.

When the 2018 and New Year's Christmas holidays 2019, this toll road operates functionally in the IB Section (Sukur-Air Madidi) and Part IIA (Air Madidi-Danowudu) to help streamline transportation flows ahead of the 2019 and New Year's Christmas holidays. This functional operation is only for small vehicles and is valid from 24 December 2018 to 1 January 2019 for Manado to Bitung. While the direction of Bitung to Manado is valid from January 2 to January 5 2019. The operation of this toll road is functionally also in the context of socialization to the public regarding the existence of the Manado-Bitung Toll Road as the first toll road. in North Sulawesi.

Manado-Bitung Toll Road is one of the national strategic projects (PSN) of President Joko Widodo's administration and Vice President Jusuf Kalla that are expected to increase connectivity so that logistics costs will be lower.

The presence of the Manado-Bitung Toll Road that connects the city of Manado to the Bitung International Port is the answer to people's needs for current problems and increasingly dense traffic volume.

Toll Road with an investment value of 5.12 Trillion is expected to increase the smooth access of Bitung International Port as one of the doors for export imports for the eastern part of Indonesia. This will shorten the traffic of goods and services that previously had to go through Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta.

For information, the Manado-Bitung Toll Road is managed by PT. Jasamarga Manado Bitung which is a subsidiary of PT. Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. For share ownership consists of PT. Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk 65%, PT. Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk 20% and PT. Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk 15%.
