The construction of the 74 Km Banda Aceh-Sigli Toll Road was started and targeted to be completed in 2021. The construction of the first toll road in Aceh Province was marked by the launch of the 13.5 Km Indrapuri-Blang Bintang section construction by President Joko Widodo who was accompanied by the Minister Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono in Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar District, Friday (12/14).

With the construction of the Banda Aceh-Sigli Toll Road commencing, President Joko Widodo said the more optimistic Trans Sumatra Toll could be connected from Aceh to Lampung with the cooperation of various parties. "I believe that in 2024, from Bakauheni to this point, God willing, it will be connected, which is about 2,000 kilometers along with 700 kilometers of branches. This means that the total is 2,700 kilometers," said the President.

President Joko Widodo said that in order to realize the acceleration of toll road development, there needs to be active support from the regional government, one of which is by preparing land acquisition for toll road development. "But once again this needs encouragement from the regency, city and provincial governments so that land or land acquisition can be quickly resolved. The problem is only there," the President said.

President Jokowi stated that he still remembers at the beginning of the construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road in Bakauheni, Lampung where there were parties who doubted whether the construction could be completed properly. "This is not something we used to imagine that this toll road can really be connected. But now the Bakauheni Toll Road to Terbanggi Besar Toll Road will be inaugurated at the end of December. Then from Bakauheni to Palembang it will also be connected God willing later in April 2019 for 350 kilometers, "said the President.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono also expressed his optimism that the Trans Sumatra Toll Road will be able to be fully connected in 2024. "Because if you see the achievement for 5 years, new toll road construction will be reached for around 1800 Km. While the Trans Sumatra Toll of around 2000 Km, it will "It is connected to 350 Km in Bakauheni-Palembang, so there are around 1600 Km left, so that it will be enough until 2024," he said.

The construction of the Banda Aceh-Sigli Toll Road is one of the Trans Sumatra Toll Roads which has become a national strategic project to Lampung. With the construction of the toll road, it will cut distance and travel time from Banda Aceh to Sigli from around 2-3 hours to 1 hour trip.

Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency Herry Trisaputra Zuna said, of the total length of 74 Km, land acquisition until the end of 2018 reached 40 Km. "Land acquisition will use the bailout scheme of the State Asset Management Agency (LMAN). The total investment for the construction of the Sigli - Banda Aceh toll road is Rp 12.35 trillion," he said.

For the overall construction from Banda Aceh to Sigli, said the Head of BPJT will be completed in March 2021 according to the contract. "However, it will gradually be completed per section starting in mid-2020, depending on the speed of land acquisition. God willing, in 2019, all land acquisition will be completed so that it can focus on completing construction," said the Head of BPJT.

For information, the Banda Aceh-Sigli Toll Road will be divided into six sections, namely Section 1 Padang Tiji-Seulimeum (25.7 Km), Section 2 Seulimeum-Jantho (6.3 Km), Section 3 Jantho-Indrapuri (16 km) K Section 4 Indrapuri-Blang Bintang (13.5 Km), Section 5 Blang Bintang-Kuto Baro (7.7 Km), and Section 6 Kuto Baro-Simpang Baitussalam (4.8 Km).
