Starting Today 31 October 2017 all toll gates only serve non-cash transactions. Toll road users are required to use electronic money to transact on toll roads. The purpose of electronification on toll road payments is to improve services to toll road users to be safe, accurate, practical, and faster.

Transactions at the toll gate also of course become easier because simply by sticking the electronic money card only. The most important thing in this electronication policy is to minimize congestion on the toll.

Previously people bought electronic cards for Rp50.000, - with the balance of Rp30.000, - and charged the card fee of Rp20.000, -. The socialization by discounting the card is planned to expire on October 31, 2017 but will be extended until November 14, 2017. Currently, the participating banks in non-toll transactions on the toll road are Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BTN, BCA, Bank Mega, and BPD Bali.
This non-cash transaction implementation policy has had an impact on human resources that have been relied upon in the process of cash transactions at toll booths. Because payments are no longer done by humans, but by attaching the card to the machine reader.

Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) stated that the readiness of the tool for the application of non-cash in the toll road is 100%. BPJT will also continue to supervise and control non-cash transactions to realize order in the implementation of non-cash transactions in toll roads in accordance with the provisions of legislation.
For information, the provisions concerning toll road electronification are contained in the Ministerial Regulation of PUPR Number 16 / PRT / M / 2017. After the implementation of toll road electronics, the government will implement a toll road transaction system without stopping the vehicle (multi lane free flow) in December 2018.
