Makassar - Thursday (18/3/20) Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono on behalf of President Jokowi inaugurated the 4.3 Km Andi Pangeran (A.P.) Pettarani Elevated Toll Road. This elevated toll road has become a new icon in the city of Makassar and is the first elevated toll road in Eastern Indonesia.
"By saying Bismillahirrohmanirrohim, I represent Mr. President Jokowi inaugurating the operation of the Pettarani Toll Road in Makassar," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in the inauguration who then signed the inscription that marked the inauguration of the Toll Road.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the government, especially President Jokowi, in developing profitable infrastructure and finance, prioritizes the private sector. The construction of the Elevated Toll Road is an example of the contribution of the private sector in the development of national infrastructure.
"I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Mayor of Makassar, the Nusantara Infrastructure Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT), and all the people who will pass the toll road and have come together to work together to complete this toll road. During construction, there must be suffering up to three sacrifices, and now when the toll road is this has become a pleasure, "said Minister Basuki.
Minister Basuki also advised that the maintenance of toll roads should continue to be considered properly, hopefully it can be used as a new icon in the city of Makassar.
"Behind suffering is enjoyment, during the implementation there are sacrifices, after completion there will be enjoyment, such as the operation of the Pettarani elevated toll road," concluded Minister Basuki.
Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Danang Parikesit, added that at this time, the congestion was already felt in the city of Makassar, so that this toll road is expected to further reduce congestion. Therefore, because this toll road is an important asset for the people of Makassar, it is imperative that the people of Makassar take part in safeguarding this asset properly, there is no vandalism in the structure of the building, let's safeguard the collective assets for the people of Makassar.
