Immediately launched, the Great Terbanggi-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung Toll Road Generates a New Economic Center in Sumatra
Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is currently working on the final construction of the Trans Sumatera Toll Road section of the Terbanggi Besar toll road - Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung covering 189.2 Km. Construction of the toll road will increase connectivity between the Province of Lampung and the Province of South Sumatra and from the Bakauheni Port as the entrance to the island of Sumatra to the eastern region of Sumatra.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that taking toll roads connected to productive areas would reduce logistics costs and increase the competitiveness of domestic products so that they would spur regional economic growth and create new economic centers in Sumatra.
"I ask the Director General of Highways to connect the toll road that is carried out by the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) until it exits, continue towards strategic areas such as ports, industries or tourist areas using the state budget," said Minister Basuki some time ago.
The construction of the Terbanggi Besar - Pematang Panggang - Kayu Agung Toll Road section is divided into 2 sections, namely Section I of the Terbanggi Besar - Baked Pematang section of 112.20 Km with construction progress reaching 99%.
Meanwhile for Section II of the 77 Km Pematang Panggang - Kayu Agung toll road, construction progress has reached 97%. Overall, the physical progress of the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung Toll Road reaches 98% and is targeted to operate by the end of 2019.
The Terbanggi Besar Toll Road Section - Baked Dike has passed the functional feasibility test conducted on 2 - 3 May 2019 in KM 140 - KM 194. Then the Terbanggi Besar Toll Road - Baked Pematang - Kayu Agung toll road at KM 194 - KM 330 on 14 - August 15, 2019. The process of testing the full function of the safety assessment and traffic management, evaluation of aspects of roads, bridges and auxiliary buildings and evaluation of administrative and operational aspects. Certificate of Eligible Operation for the Terbanggi Besar Toll - Pematang Panggang was issued on 12 September 2019.
Terbanggi Besar - Pematang Panggang - Kayu Agung Toll Road is the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road along 141 Km which has been operating since March 2019. The Terbanggi Besar section - Baked Pematang - Kayu Agung was opened functionally to support the smooth flow of homecoming in 2019.
The construction of the Terbanggi Besar section - Pematang Panggang - Kayu Agung has been carried out since July 2018 with an investment cost of Rp 21.95 trillion with a concession period of 40 years. This toll road is one of the Trans Sumatra segments that has become a national project starting from Lampung to Aceh along the 2,700 Km. The Trans Sumatra Toll Road can be an alternative to the existing Jalan Lintas Timur Sumatera.
