Support Banten Industry and Tourism Sector, Serang - Panimbang Toll Road Construction Reaches 97.68 %
Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) together with the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) continues to accelerate the construction of the Serang - Panimbang Toll Road which stretches for 83.67 km.
The construction of the toll road that crosses the City & District of Serang, Lebak and Pandeglang is expected to facilitate community economic connectivity from the industrial sector and tourism areas in Banten Province.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of road access would accelerate the development of tourist destinations.
"Improved road access will support the economy of the community in tourist areas," said Minister Basuki.
The Serang – Panimbang toll road consists of three sections, namely Section 1 of 26.5 km long connecting Serang – Rangkasbitung, Section 2 of 24.17 km connecting Rangkasbitung – Cileles, and Section 3 of 33 km connecting Cileles – Panimbang. For Section 1, the construction progress has reached 97.68% and is ready to be inaugurated in August 2021.
Meanwhile, sections 2 and 3 are still in the stage of land acquisition with the progress of Section 2 reaching 75.21% and Section 3 at 64.21%. Sections 2 and 3 are targeted for completion in August 2023.
The construction of the Serang – Panimbang Toll Road is carried out through the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme with a total investment value of Rp. 8.58 trillion. For Sections 1-2 the portion of the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) by PT. Wijaya Karya Serang Panimbang and Section 3 serving the government.
The presence of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road is expected to support the economic development of the Central Banten and South Banten Regions with North Banten which are geographically close to DKI Jakarta.
In addition, the Serang-Panimbang toll road will provide convenience and efficiency of travel time, such as from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung tourism object, which previously required a travel time of up to 5 hours to be around 2 - 3 hours with an average speed of 100 km/hour.
