Simulation of Single Lane Free Flow (SLFF) on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road

As an effort to improve transaction services on the toll road and in order to support the National Non-Cash Movement (GNNT), the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road was carried out simulating Single Lane Free Flow (SLFF) at the Ciujung Operational Office, Tangerang, Monday (18/3).

SLFF is a non-stop payment system in each transaction lane, the SLFF system is a step towards Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) which will be applied to all toll roads.

PT Marga Mandalasakti (PT. MMS) as the operator of the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road uses SLFF technology using Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) to allow data storage or vehicle identity in devices placed in vehicles or the On Board Unit (OBU).

The DSRC work system is based on the exchange of information tools between devices and readers or readers using a 5.8 Ghz wave with a short distance and low energy emissions. Reader placed on the road at the gate or gantries, will detect and classify passing vehicles so that the rates paid will be more accurate according to the type of vehicle and distance traveled.

"Currently we are still in the preparation stage towards the SLFF system. In the implementation of this system, readiness is needed not only from the toll road management but also from the community to switch from manual and automatic systems to the SLFF system" said PT MMS President Director, Mr Krist Ade Sudiyono.

BPJT Member Element of Government Ministry of PUPR Mr. Agita Widjajanto said in his remarks, the Government continued to encourage the realization of an effective and efficient national transportation system to facilitate the mobility of goods and services.

"The ultimate toll road payment system in Indonesia is Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF), but before it is implemented we will test the SLFF system first. Hopefully this SLFF simulation can provide benefits for toll road users." added Mr. Agita Widjajanto

Currently the SLFF installation has been prepared at the West Serang and Cikande Toll Gate and Exit Cikupa and Serang East Toll Gates with 1 lane which is expected to accelerate travel time for road users and increase transaction capacity on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road.

Also attending the event were BPJT Members of the Government Ministry of Public Works Agita Widjajanto, Director of PT. Astra Nusantara Nusantara Wiwiek Santoso and President Director Krist Ade Sudiyono.

On the same day tree planting was carried out at the Cikande Toll Gate access to commemorate the 30th year of PT. MMS also aims to be beatified on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road.
