On Tuesday (30/07) an explanatory meeting (Aanwijzing) Prequalification of the Balikpapan-Penajam Paser North Toll Road auction was held in the BPJT Meeting Room, Ministry of PUPR. Aanwijzing was chaired by the Chairperson of the Balikpapan-Penajam Paser North Toll Road Auction Committee, Koentjahjo Pamboedi and was attended by the Bid Committee and Prequalification Applicants.

The Balikpapan-Penajam Paser North Toll Road Prequalification announcement has been held since July 16, 2019. It is explained by the Chairperson of the Bid Committee that the deadline for the submission of questions is July 31, 2019 until 16:00 WIB while the pre-qualification document collection has begun on July 17, 2019 at 10.00-16.00 WIB and can be taken until August 29, 2019 at 16.00 WIB. For the deadline for the issuance of the pre-qualification document addendum on 7 August 2019 at 14.00 West Indonesia Time and the deadline for submission of the pre-qualification document contents to be closed on 30 August 2019 at 15.00 WIB.

Balikpapan-Penajam Paser North Toll Road is the first toll bridge on Kalimantan Island which was built along 7.35 Km with an estimated investment cost of Rp 15.53 Trillion. This toll road will be equipped with a motorized lane so that it will become the third toll road that can be traversed by motorcycles in Indonesia.

The toll road which is targeted to be built in 2021 is expected to facilitate the traffic of people and goods. In addition, the activities of the surrounding residents will be more efficient than using a ferry as a means of crossing transportation that has been used so far. At present the crossing travel time takes 30 minutes to 2 hours, with the presence of this toll road it is predicted that the travel time is only 10 minutes.

The explanation meeting (Aanwijzing) was also attended by the Directorate of Freeways, Urban and Regional Road Facilitation of the Directorate General of Highways, PT. Hutama Karya, PT. Waskita Toll Road, PT. Balikpapan Bay Toll Road, China Road and Bridge Corporation, China Communications Construction Engineering Indonesia and China Construction Eight Engineering Division Corp. LTD.
