Indonesian President Joko Widodo Inaugurates Solo-Ngawi Toll Road, Sragen-Ngawi Segment, 51.21 Km

The government is gradually completing the construction of the Trans Java Toll Road which is targeted to be connected from Merak to Surabaya along 870 Km by the end of 2018 and continued to Banyuwangi with a length of 1,150 km which will be gradually connected in 2019. Another toll road inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo is The Sragen-Ngawi segment is 51.21 Km which is part of the Solo - Ngawi Toll 90.4 Km, Wednesday (11/28).

Located in front of the Km 538 Rest Area, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by BUMN Minister Rini Soemarno, Minister of State Pratikno, Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works, Sugiyartanto, Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen and President Director of PT. Jasa Marga Desi Arryani.

"I am very happy that the Solo-Ngawi Toll Road Sragen-Ngawi segment was inaugurated. It means that soon from Jakarta-Surabaya, at the end of 2018, God willing, it will be connected, "said President Joko Widodo in his remarks at the Opening of the Solo-Ngawi Toll Road.

With the inauguration of the Sragen-Ngawi segment, the length of the Trans Java Toll Road from Merak-Surabaya increased to 690 Km from a total of 870 Km. While the four 180km toll roads that are still in the final completion stage are the 33 Km Pemalang-Batang Toll Road, 75 Km in Batang-Semarang, 33 Km in Salatiga-Solo and 39 Km in Wilangan-Kertosono which are targeted for completion at the end December 2018.

The President said that the connection of the Trans Java Toll Road should be utilized by regional heads to integrate it with productive areas, such as industrial estates and agriculture, and to support tourist areas. "Don't let this toll road stand alone, but it must be integrated (with regional development) so that the benefits are maximized," said President Joko Widodo.

The construction of toll roads will also accommodate the development and marketing of local products in the toll road area so that they are not only filled with foreign products. For example in the rest area of KM 538 Sragen-Ngawi Toll Road, which is dominated by local culinary such as Soto Kwali, Lontong Opor, Soto Madura, Baso Malang.

Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Works, Sugiyartanto, said that with the operation of the Trans Java Toll Road, the logistics costs would be cut. For information, Solo-Ngawi Toll Road is divided into three segments, namely 21.38 Km in Kartasura-Karanganyar Junction Segment (Government construction) which was inaugurated on 15 July 2018, the length of Karanganyar-Simpang Susun (SS) Sragen Segment is 13.84 Km (construction by BUJT) which was inaugurated on July 15, 2018 and SS Sragen-SS Ngawi Segment with a length of 51.21 Km (construction by BUJT) which was just inaugurated.

The construction of the Solo - Ngawi Toll Road is carried out using the Business Entity Government Cooperation (PPP) scheme. The government through the Ministry of PUPR provides state budget funding of Rp 2.57 trillion to finance part of the construction of 21.08 km from Kartasura to Karanganyar to increase the feasibility of toll road investment.

The construction of the Solo-Ngawi Toll Road is carried out by the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) of PT. Jasamarga Solo-Ngawi (PT. JSN) previously named PT. Solo Ngawi Jaya (PT. SNJ). This toll road concession period has been 40 years since the signing of the Toll Road Concession Agreement (PPJT) in 2011.

After being inaugurated, the Sragen-Ngawi segment can be passed by the community and has not been subject to tariffs as part of socialization to the public. The toll tariff will be enforced starting December 6, 2018 at 00.00 WIB. The Solo-Ngawi toll tariff has used a basic formula of Rp. 1000 / km and simplification of the class of vehicles from 5 to 3 groups, namely Groups 1, 2 and 3.

Solo-Ngawi Toll Road cut travel time from the original 3 hours by using the existing lane, now it can be reached in just 1.5 hours.
