Improving Logistics Distribution Efficiency in South Sumatra, Ministry of PUPR Encourages Completion of Sections 2-3 of the Kayu Agung-Palembang Toll Road
Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to encourage the completion of the construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road. In South Sumatra Province, the Trans Sumatra Kayu Agung - Palembang - Betung / Kapalbetung Toll Road section 2-3 phase II for the Palembang (Keramasan) - Betung (69.19 km) segment is being completed, where previously section 1-2 phase I for the Timber segment is being completed. Agung - Palembang (Keramasan) 42.5 km was inaugurated in January 2021.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the presence of toll roads connected to productive areas such as Industrial Estates, Tourism, Airports and Ports would be able to reduce logistics costs and increase the competitiveness of domestic products.
Expert Staff for the Integrated Development of the Ministry of PUPR Achmad Gani Ghazaly Akman as the Implementing Coordinator of the National Strategic Project Monitoring and Evaluation Team (PSN) of the PUPR Ministry said that currently the progress of land acquisition for section 2 of the Betung Ship Toll road section of the Keramasan-Musi Landas (24.9 km) has been completed. by 89.98%. Meanwhile, for section 3 of the Musi Landas-Betung section (44.29 km), the land acquisition is 53.45%.
"The physical progress in section 2 is 34.95 percent and section 3 is 6.3 percent. It is targeted that the total 69.19 km length of the two sections will be completed in December 2023," said Gani.
Gani conveyed to the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR that physical handling in the field is prioritized in Section 2 (Gate to Gate) so that it can be operated in stages. "The land acquisition that is already free will continue and become the responsibility of PT Waskita Sriwijaya Tol until it can be accepted by the Director General of Highways," he said.
The Kapalbetung Toll Road is part of the main corridor (backbone) of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road whose construction was carried out by the BUJT PT. Waskita Sriwijaya Toll Road with a total investment of Rp. 22.16 trillion.
The construction of the Kapalbetung Toll Road is an effort to meet the national toll road development target of 2020-2024 along 2,724 km. In addition, to complete the structure of the North Corridor network of the 2,069 km Trans Sumatra Toll Road which will connect Sumatra Island from Lampung Province to Aceh.
In addition to the main Trans Sumatra corridor, the Government is also building the Trans Sumatra Toll Fin, one of which is the Indralaya-Muara Enim Intersection (119 Km) whose construction was launched in 2018.
Gani said, based on the results of the field visit, it was reported that the progress of land acquisition for section 1 of the Indraya-Prabumulih Intersection (65 km) was 80.32 percent and section 2 of the Prabumulih-Muara Enim (54 km) section of 19.01%. "The physical progress of the construction of section 1 is currently 37.30 percent and section 2 is 8.74 percent. Section 1 is targeted for completion in May 2022 and section 2 in December 2023," said Gani. (*)
