Cisumdawu Toll Road, the Most Beautiful Toll Road Built by Indonesian Talented Engineers

Bandung - Cileunyi - Sumedang - Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road, which has been built along 61.5 Km, is one of the toll roads in the West Java region that is unique from the construction process to being one of the most beautiful toll roads in Indonesia.

"The Cisumdawu toll is seen in contour and visually, it is the most beautiful toll road in Indonesia today. This is also evidenced by the ability of our young engineers to work in field conditions that are not easily crossed. Above the tunnels will also be added ornaments in the form of plants which is expected to beautify the landscape of each Cisumdawu toll road, "said the Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of PUPR, Danang Parikesit when reviewing the progress of the construction of the Cisumdawu Toll Road, in West Java, Thursday, (5/9/19).

Present during the visit, the Head of the National Road Implementation Center VI Directorate General of Highways in the Ministry of PUPR, Hari Suko Setiono, Kasatker Implementation of Cisumdawu Freeway. West Java, Directorate General of Highways, Yusrizal Kurniawan, Technical Director of PT. Citra Karya Jabar Tol (CKJT), Bagus Meidi.

Danang said, the construction of this toll road provides evidence that talented Indonesian engineers are able to work well using technology that has been implemented very well to this day. Indonesian workers have high competitiveness that is no less great than workers from other countries, so that when they encounter some problems relating to land can be overcome gradually until the completion stage.

Danang added, the presence of the Cisumdawu toll road is also expected to boost economic growth in each area that it crosses and support the Kertajati West Java International Airport in Majalengka and become one of the accesses that accelerates logistical vehicles to Patimban Port.

"Until now the Government together with BUJT continues to boost work on each Cisumdawu Toll Road that is targeted to be completed by the end of 2020. When construction is complete, the Cisumdawu Toll Road can certainly be operated immediately, so that the existence of the longest tunnel (Tunnel) built in the Cisumdawu Toll Road can provide optimal accessibility for the people in the province of West Java, especially Sumedang, "he added.

Cisumdawu Toll Road was built simultaneously by the Government and Business Entities. For the construction of Sections 1 & 2, a length of 29 Km was built by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) using pure rupiah APBN funds and Chinese government loans. Then Section 3-6 of 32.8 Km is done by the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) of PT. Citra Karya Jabar Tol (CKJT) with an investment of Rp 8.41 trillion.

For Section 1 of the segment of the Cileunyi – Tanjungsari along the 12 km with a construction progress of 45.47%, is carried out by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) - PT Adhi Karya (Joint Venture). Section 2 of the Tanjungsari – Sumedang section is 17.51 Km long, construction is divided into 2 phases, namely phase I of 7.23 Km construction has been fully completed by 100%. Phase II along the 10.7 Km, 74.62% construction progress was carried out by Metallurgical Corporation of China - PT. Wijaya Karya - PT. Nindya Karya - PT. Waskita Karya (Joint Operation).

Then Section 3 of the 4 Km Sumedang-Cimalaka section is worked on by PT. Girder Indonesia with construction progress has reached 78.01%. Section 4 of Caturaka-Legok section with a length of 8.20 km and Section V of Legok – Ujungjaya with a length of 14.90 Km, Section 6 of Ujungjaya-Kertajati 6.06 Km has not yet begun construction.

Danang explained that the PUPR Ministry had taken over part of the toll road section II of the Cisumdawu Toll Road project from contractors from China. "Previously, the portion of Chinese contractors was 65% with the Government at 35%. However, at present the process has become 45% by contractors from China and 55% by the Ministry of PUPR, "he said.
