The Positive Impact of Toll Road Connectivity on Public Service Facilities to Industrial and Logistics Areas

Bandung - Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the PUPR Ministry, Danang Parikesit, said the presence of the Toll Road as a function of the expressway network plays an important role in the movement of transportation flows in Indonesia, not only in terms of breaking down vehicle traffic but also has an important objective in creating the positive impact of the construction of the toll road itself that connects each public service facility for the community.

"Toll roads that can be connected to every access to the airport, port, are quite important in reducing travel times so that it is faster. Like when the construction of Makassar New Port, when later connected to the toll road network access can only take about 1.5 up to 2 hours drive, "Danang said when giving exposure to the Media, in Bandung, Wednesday (4/9/19).

Danang said, in addition to being a supporting access to the Airport and the Port, but there was already a request from the Central Java region, especially the Rawa Pening area, which was a proposal to develop Rawa Pening tourism which was connected with the toll road for access to the tourist treasurers.

"Currently, industrial warehousing areas are also widely placed around national roads, so they want to also have access to toll roads for faster logistics delivery. Therefore, we continue to work to integrate toll roads with industrial and logistics zones," he said. Danang

Rest Area Development

Danang added, the presence of the rest area on the toll road which at the same time provides a comfort value for motorists will also be expanded according to the function of public services, especially as a tourist destination rest area, primarily as a stop for vehicles to stop but also has its own charm.

"The existing rest area can be developed, used as well as possible, added and invested, so that the quality of each rest area that is filled by the community of MSME owners who sell their local brands as economic agents can be further enhanced by the quality of their products," he added.

As an effort to continuously improve the quality of toll roads and rest areas, this improvement will also have a positive goal for toll road users. The presence of existing rest areas as well as on newly built toll roads continues to be encouraged to be able to provide tangible economic benefits for the economy of the local community, namely through the provision of stalls for MSMEs to promote local culinary and products.

In order to maintain the quality of existing road and TIP services, the Ministry of PUPR will also conduct an assessment on all toll roads. The overall quality of TIP services also relates to aspects of user comfort, ranging from aspects of comfort, tidiness and environmental quality, as well as facilities for gender equality for people with disabilities, the elderly, women, and children.
