Previously President Joko Widodo inaugurated Section 1 of the Ciawi - Sukabumi Toll Road from Ciawi to Cigombong with a length of 15.3 Km at the Cigombong Toll Gate on Saturday (1/12).
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road was the beginning of the construction of the Southern Trans Java Road. "The Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road will continue to Cianjur and continue to Padalarang. Then from Bandung, Tasikmalaya to Cilacap and will continue to Yogyakarta. , "Minister Basuki said after opening the National Infrastructure Development Exhibition in 2018, in Bandung on Sunday (12/02/2018).
The development of South West Java in the future is very necessary because the population is large and has a lot of potential that can be developed such as agriculture and the tourism sector. It looks at the south of West Java which has the charm of natural mountains and many beautiful beaches that have not been developed.
Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Works, Sugiyartanto, said that the construction of the toll road in the southern part of West Java is expected to be a balancer of traffic in the north. Toll will be carried out selectively and gradually based on needs.
"Not all must be toll roads at this time, some of which do not need toll roads will connect with arterial roads because there are four arterial arterial roads," said Director General of Highways.
One of the long-term toll roads that will be built is the 184 Km Tol-Garut-Tasikmalaya Toll Road, currently in the pre-Feasibility Study stage. "Including being carried out the most efficient toll road tracing process from several choices. "It will also be related to the amount of investment so it will not be too expensive later," he explained.
While the inauguration of Section 1 Ciawi-Cigombong significantly cut travel time. Even though it's only 15.3 Km, it will pass through congestion points on the arterial road. So that Ciawi-Cigombong, which was originally 1.5 hours, can be reached in only 15 minutes. This is very helpful especially for small entrepreneurs who send goods to Jakarta and other regions.
As information, Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road has a total length of 54 Km consisting of 4 sections, namely Section 1 Ciawi-Cigombong 15.35 Km, Section 2 Cigombong-Cibadak 11.90 Km with land progress of 59%, Section 3 Cibadak-Sukabumi West 13.70 Km and Section 4 Sukabumi Barat-Sukabumi Timur 13.05 Km. For sections 3 and 4 it is planned to operate in 2021. This Toll Road is managed by the PT Trans Jabar Toll Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) whose majority share is owned by PT Waskita Toll Road.
