Sustainable Toll Road Assessment, Bali Mandara Toll Road Implements Green Environment and Green Energy Programs


Bali – In order to improve the quality of sustainable toll road management including lanscaping and beautification on toll roads, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing conducts assessment and monitoring activities for sustainable toll road management.

In 2023, Sustainable Toll Road carries the theme Toll For All, with indicators of improving the quality of gender-friendly facilities, increasing public awareness of toll road users, expanding access to local investment (sustainable local branding).

On Thursday-Friday (6-7/7) an assessment was carried out on the Bali Mandara toll road managed by PT Jasamarga Bali Tol by the Sustainable Toll Road Management Assessment and Monitoring Team.

On this occasion, Ahmad Safrudin, M.Sc, an expert in Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient Transportation, as a resource person for Sustainable Toll Road Assessment, said that the sustainable toll road assessment is a program launched by the Government whose main objective is based on Law Number 16 of 2016 concerning the Paris Agreement on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, there is a commitment by Indonesia to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in various sectors, one of which is in the transportation sector. Then, it is necessary to develop rumija or toll road median facilities with various plants in addition to beautification, also to absorb carbon dioxide coming out of motor vehicle exhaust.

“This year, sustainable toll roads raised the theme Toll for All, where all parties must be able to access the toll road with a gender-friendly concentration, and must be able to accommodate the interests of the local community both in social and economic contexts,” said Ahmad. Furthermore, Ahmad added that toll roads must be considered regarding anti-glare, especially in the median of the toll road so as not to disturb certain genders who are sensitive to light from the other side when driving.

In carrying out the green environment and green energy program on the Bali Mandara toll road, planting Bougenville flowers, planting 821,800 mangrove seedlings in the 2013-20123 period, utilizing Solar Power Plants (PLTS). While related to gender commitment, PT. Jasamarga Bali Tol conducts equality in career paths, maternity / miscarriage leave opportunities, female officer gate areas only in shift 1 (06.00 – 14.00 WITA), availability of lactation rooms at headquarters and operations, division of male and female toilets at headquarters and operations.

In 2022, PT Jasamarga Bali Tol received the highest predicate (gold category) in the implementation of Green Toll Road Indonesia, where 7 (seven) assessment indicators were assessed, namely feasibility and service access, energy efficiency, water efficiency, environment, materials, construction and regional cooperation.

In the assessment of Sustainable Toll Roads in 2022, PT Jasamarga Bali Tol received the 1st Best Award for Sustainable Toll Road Management in the Elevated Toll Road Category in 2022 organized by the Ministry of PUPR.
